Regarding InHeaven’s request for more life in a model’s poses: Much depends on the ability of the photographer to introduce the concept of a narrative into the posing session. It has an almost transformative effect when the photographer can dissuade the model’s sense of simply going through a sequence of frozen gestures and static poses, and introduce the idea of a character playing a scene. Photographers, I believe, would do well to, at least casually, acquaint themselves with the “Stanislavsky Method”. It is a systematic approach to training actors that the Russian director Konstantin Stanislavski developed a hundred years ago. He advocated the “art of experiencing” (different from the “art of representing”). He called upon his actors to employ their memories and emotional experiences and idiosyncrasies to define their actions and attitudes, and to focus on what the characters they’ve created seek to achieve in their interaction with the audience. Some photographers and models seem to be able to do this instinctively. Their work projects through the screen, and makes a richer, more real, and more immediate connection with the viewer. The purpose of glamour photos, after all, is to create the illusion that the model, while at once impossibly beautiful and unattainable, approves of the viewer, and his simulated presence. When photographers fail to employ the creation of a narrative that emphasizes the kinetic reality that expresses tangible essence of the model, they might as well be photographing a mannequin, rearranging the arms and legs into a series of graceful, but detached gestures.

From what I heard I don’t think she will be coming back. But I still have hope that she will. That is why on each set I buy of Candy I also mention Marisol’s name hoping that if it is the same photographer as before taking the pictures maybe he will let Marisol know how much she is missed. And how much we wish she would come back.
